Link by Fasetto – the first “I Want It” of 2015

Every so often, I come across a product that makes me think “I would love one of these”. They usually come around once every few days. Sometimes, I come across one that makes me think “I really want one of these”. They happen maybe every month. But sometimes, I see something that makes me think

Meet the first contender for the “It will be mine (although it probably won’t)” award of 2015.  It’s the Link from a company called Fasetto, and it is a WiFi-enabled, up to 1TB SSD wearable hard drive.  And I want it.

Link from Indegogo

At the moment, Fasetto is trying to raise funds on Indegogo, and devices come in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB varieties.  They were present at CES 2015 where they unveiled a prototype device, and according to their Indegogo page, devices won’t be shipped until September 2015.  Which is a short while away, but will still be worth the wait.

It is waterproof to 15 metres, which is ideal if you want to wear it whilst in the shower.  It boasts a battery life of 12 hours in use or 2 weeks on standby and is charged wirelessly through its charging block.  It also comes with multiple encryption methods, which is useful for those who want to keep their data private, and a fitness tracker, which is useful for those who want to keep their waistline in shape.  Prices start from $199 (about £131, €168) plus shipping for 128GB, and some backers can get family packs for higher bids.

I do have to correct Mr Newman’s comment on his review, though.  He said it was “easily the ugliest wearable at CES”.  I have to disagree.  From a purely aesthetic point of view, I find the Link truly beautiful.  Bulky, yes, but still oh so beautiful.
